The Appropriate Use of Tools, including Crosswalks and Mapping
There are a number of tools available that address the transition to ICD-10 (for example, General Equivalence Mappings). This module describes some of these tools and their uses, but it also emphasizes that mappings/crosswalks are not substitutes for making the necessary changes to information systems. The payer/provider will only realize the full power of ICD-10 data through implementation, not translation.
