Performing the Gap Analysis to Determine the "As-Is" State of the Organization

This module gives payers and providers the information necessary to conduct a detailed gap analysis to serve as a baseline for measuring where the organization currently is versus where it needs to be to receive and process 5010 transactions and ICD-10 codes. Major areas of compliance effectiveness include experience and success in implementing other HIPAA Rules, Change Leadership and Business Process Reengineering experience and capability, Program Management Office capability, inventory of code-dependent or code-driven information systems and interfaces, analysis of system architecture, and analysis of workflows and their interdependencies.
The results of the gap analysis will provide the input for implementation planning, creating a roadmap for compliance. Developing an information systems strategy, including alternate paths for remediation, replacement, and/or outsourcing, will be one of the major deliverables.
