This module describes the process for payers to follow to develop a working implementation plan/roadmap, including estimating budgets and setting realistic timelines. The major sources of cost are explored in detail with an emphasis on not relying on generalized published estimates, recognizing that each organization’s situation will be different.
The module will discuss setting up the correct implementation structure, determining staffing levels and competencies, and remediating, replacing, upgrading, or outsourcing information systems, applications, and interfaces. If remediation is not feasible, organizations should replace systems to “fix it once” with commercial software or find outsourcing alternatives.
